Moist air enters the dehumidifier from a humidifier in which compressed dry air is forced through a porous stainless steel cartridge sparger into a tank heated by a submerged resistance heater. Direct or indirect evaporative cooling in air handling units or alternatively directly into rooms with very low electricity consumption bringing considerable cooling of the air using simple water. Both require connection to electrical power water and compressed air. Compressed air humidifiers are the ideal humidification solution whenever a compressed air supply is available as is the case in many industrial applications even if humidification systems are often fitted with a dedicated air compressor.

The only thing limiting this humidifier is a dedicated compressed air source. Adiabatic humidifiers are increasingly used for energy saving applications.
